Leap Year

Is 1900 a Leap Year?

No. 1900 is not a leap year.

No

February 1900 has 28 days, and the year has 365 days total.

Why 1900 is not a leap year

1900 is divisible by 100 but not by 400, so — unlike most multiples of 4 — it is NOT a leap year. This is the exception most people don't learn in school.

The rule in full: a year is a leap year if it's divisible by 4 — except century years (divisible by 100), which are only leap years if they're also divisible by 400. That's why 2000 was a leap year but 1900 and 2100 are not, despite all three being divisible by 100.

Next leap year after 1900: 1904. Previous leap year before 1900: 1896.
