Holidays
All 12 official Norwegian public holidays for any year, calculated live.
Norway keeps a fixed list of 12 public holidays and, unlike neighbors such as the UK or the US, doesn't move a holiday to the nearest weekday when it lands on a Saturday or Sunday. In 2026, for example, both Constitution Day and Pentecost Sunday fall on a Sunday and simply stay there — no substitute Monday is created. That means the number of actual paid days off varies from year to year depending on how the calendar falls.
Norway treats both Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Good Friday) and Good Friday itself as public holidays — most countries only recognize one or the other, if either. Combined with Easter Monday, this can give Norway a five-day Easter closure (Thursday through Monday) even though only Thursday and Friday are true midweek stoppages.
